One of our favorite developments in technology has been 3D printed appliances. In the past we fit bands to the back teeth to generate appliances. This process required a separator and band-fitting appointment which were often uncomfortable for the patient. We tested a variety of band sizes out on patients to find the one that most closely matched the shape of their teeth. Now with 3D printed appliances, metal is printed to directly match the shape of the patient's teeth. These appliances fit incredibly well, and as a result, are more comfortable and rarely require repairs. Additionally, the patients have less appointments which means less time off school and work!
