Vivera® Retainer Subscription Program

Pittman Family Orthodontics is excited to offer a convenient and cost-effective retainer subscription program to serve our patients in Fuquay-Varina, Raleigh, Angier, Lillington, Holly Springs, Garner and the surrounding communities! Through this program, retainers are conveniently shipped to your home after the first set of retainers are fitted in our office. This is our recommendation for an easy, effective solution to keep your smile at its very best.

After completing orthodontic treatment, teeth tend to relapse, or shift, over time. That’s why we tell our patients that orthodontics is a lifetime commitment, and after treatment they will need to wear retainers nightly for life. Now through our retainer subscription program, we are excited to offer a convenient and affordable way for patients to protect their investment by maintaining their beautiful smile and healthy bite for life. 

For our retainer subscription program, we utilize Invisalign® Vivera® retainers with the Invisalign® online platform. We have found that patients really like clear Vivera® retainers. These high-tech custom retainers are durable and comfortable. However, despite the durability of the material, they will wear down over time and lose the ability to keep teeth straight. They will also discolor and stain. Like replacing your toothbrush, it is important to replace your retainers.

To solve this issue and provide convenience for our patients, we have created a retainer subscription program that gives you the opportunity to receive discounted retainers on a regular basis. The first set of retainers must be fitted in our office, but the following retainers can be delivered to your home! You choose if you would like to receive one or two sets per year, and if you prefer to pay monthly or yearly.

Please note that the fee includes the initial scan to start the subscription as well as shipping cost! As a member of our retainer subscription program, you are eligible for significantly discounted retainers if you lose your retainers prior to receiving your next subscription.

FAQs

Can I sign up for the subscription program if I had my orthodontic treatment at another office or when I was a child?

Absolutely! At your first appointment we will scan your teeth and send you a quote via email. You will incur the standard one-time set up fee and annual or monthly payment to enroll in the program when you accept the subscription quote on the Invisalign® website. Remember the first set of retainers will be fitted in our office, and future retainers can be shipped to your house.

I think my teeth have shifted. Do I need to do orthodontic treatment first?

We recommend a complementary consultation for all new patients or existing patients who believe their teeth have shifted over time. Patients who completed comprehensive treatment with us are eligible for our Bring Back Your Smile program. Please call the office or book online to schedule an exam! Orthodontic treatment should be completed prior to retainers.

Are both Invisalign® and braces patients able to use the subscription program?

Yes, and we encourage all of our patients to enroll!

Can I cancel my subscription?

Yes, your subscription can be canceled at any time online at my.invisalign.com. Please note that if it is cancelled, you will need to pay the standard set-up fee again to restart.

Is there a payment plan for the Vivera® subscription program?

Yes. You can choose between monthly or annual payments on the Invisalign® website or portal at your convenience.

Is there shipping cost when I receive my retainers at home?

Nope! Our fee includes shipping and handling.

What happens if I move? Or if my credit card changes?

You will receive an email from Invisalign® prior to fabrication of retainers to confirm your address. You can access your account at any time to update your address or change your payment information through my.invisalign.com. If your payment fails, your next set of retainers will not be made.

How can I be eligible for the discounted retainer upgrade set-up fee of $25?

This one-time discounted fee is for patients that are completing comprehensive orthodontic treatment at our office and want to upgrade their retainer package to include the Vivera® retainer subscription program. Limited orthodontic or Bring Back Your Smile treatments will be charged the $175 set up fee.

What happens if I lose my retainers before my next subscription arrives?

Since life happens, we encourage patients to save previous retainers so they always have at least one back-up set of retainers. If you have back-up retainers available, use those until your next subscription arrives. If you do not, it is important to get replacement retainers as soon as possible to prevent shifting. As a retainer subscriber, we can request replacement retainers for you at a significantly discounted price of $75/retainer while maintaining your subscription service. You have the option to reset your subscription from the replacement day, which would incur the standard set-up fee of $175. Alternatively, you can keep your original subscription timeline and maintain your original financial payments with no fee beyond the $75 replacement fee.

What if I get a new filling or crown and my retainer no longer fits?

A new filling or crown may cause your current retainers to no longer fit. It is important to let your dentist know that you wear retainers; they may be able to apply the filling or crown to preserve the shape of the tooth so the retainer still fits. If the retainer no longer fits, you will need to come to our office for an updated scan and to reenroll in the Vivera® subscription program. This will incur the standard set-up fee of $175.

Can these retainers fit over my bonded retainer?

Yes! Vivera® retainers fit over bonded retainers. Some other names for bonded retainers are ‘permanent retainers’ or ‘glued-in retainers’.

What if I decide to remove my bonded retainer in the future?

We can provide guidance for you in this situation. Typically the Vivera retainers will still be effective with the bonded retainer removed. However, there is a chance we would rescan you after removing your bonded retainer and reenroll you in the Vivera® subscription program, incurring the standard set-up fee of $175.

Are my children that are in early or interceptive orthodontic treatment eligible for the retainer subscription program?

No. We offer different style retainers for patients finishing early orthodontic treatment since they still have baby teeth and their bite and teeth are continuing to change with growth and development. Mixed dentition changes quickly, and the subscription is not ideal for these cases. If your child loses or breaks a retainer, please contact our office as soon as possible.

Should I get 1 set or 2 sets of retainers?

That’s up to you! Patients that grind their teeth at night wear through their retainers more quickly and will benefit from additional sets of retainers. Also, some patients really like a fresh set on a more frequent basis so it is easier to keep them clean. If you choose to get 2 sets, you will receive one set every 6 months.

Will these retainers help with jaw pain?

Unfortunately, there is not a clear answer since there are multiple causes of jaw pain and people respond differently to retainers. Some patients experience relief with Vivera® retainers. Some experience no change and, though rare, clear retainers can make symptoms worse. These patients often require a nightguard as well as other types of treatment for jaw pain.
